BENEFITS

Our group classes are so much more than an introductory piano class. They are focused on developing your child as a whole musician, and concentrate on all skills such as listening, singing, rhythm, reading music, harmony and of course learning the piano.

FAQs

  • Our Pianorama classes are all about giving all-round musicianship skills to students to last a lifetime, rather than just the ability to read notes. Our group music and piano classes encourage the children in all styles of music, and in the more advanced courses the children even begin basic composition exercises.

    All children sing as part of the course work, something that usually doesn’t happen during individual lessons. Singing develops the students’ sense of pitch, musicality and melodic memory. All of these are fantastic skills to have as a musician and will last your child a lifetime.

    Most of all, these courses are about music learning through having fun: group games and learning will motivate and create a sense of fun and engagement for your child, which in turn will help your child stick with and achieve musical skills. A child can lose interest when they learn in a solitary environment.

  • ISM students are trained to LISTEN, SING, PLAY, READ then WRITE as opposed to READ first and when you have worked it out with your brain then try and play.

    What we hear, we sing - what we sing, we play - what we play, we read - what we read, we write.

    From listening to singing and playing to reading, these broad bases of musical skills are a great foundation to move on to any instrument in the future.

  • Solfege is the musical language we use at ISM.

    Doh, reh, mi, fah, soh, lah, ti….these syllables are ideal for vocalising, especially compared to letters, so children can sing instrumental melodies. They LOVE to sing!

    What we hear we sing, what we sing we play…….. the best musical education for your child.

    Our students thrive learning in this most engaging and comprehensive programme.

  • It’s a great question!

    In fact, this is exactly the question we asked ourselves when setting up the Pianorama Programme. The answer is simple;

    As every parent knows, most kids are motivated to do things when they get to have some fun! Pianorama class is designed so that they are learning fundamental piano playing techniques and musical concepts through games, exciting songs and a quick change of pace throughout the 45-minute lesson. Before they know it, class is over and they’re already looking forward to next week’s piano lesson!

    Giving your child the opportunity to learn an instrument is one of the most important gifts you can give them. And what better way to achieve this than through the excitement, camaraderie and joy they’ll feel in class?

  • Children LOVE learning in our group Pianorama classes. One lesson will not give your child the joy and delight in learning, practicing and progressing. The first term they will learn the first 6 songs in the book as well as aurally and theoretically the solfege notes (doh, reh, mi, fah, soh), note values and rhythm patterns. They will have the opportunity to form a connection with their teacher, their class and experience the joy of playing piano.

    It is important to commit to having your piano set up in the home ready so they experience practice and progress.
